Deut 6:9-15 Caution Against Forgetting the Lord.
"So it shall be, when the LORD your God brings you into the land of which
He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large
and beautiful cities which you did not build, 11 houses full of all good
things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig,
vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant — when you have eaten
and are full —
12 then beware, lest you forget the LORD who brought you out of the land
of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 13 You shall fear the LORD your God
and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name. 14 You shall not go after
other gods, the gods of the peoples who are all around you 15(for the LORD
your God is a jealous God among you), lest the anger of the LORD your God
be aroused against you and destroy you from the face of the earth.
More than anyone, our God knows the nature of man to have a short memory.
We are put on notice by the Lord our God of a subtle danger that can cast
a spell on the Christian. It is forgetting the Lord. In this scripture
there are two generations that I see. There had to be someone that built
the houses and conquered the lands mentioned here. Some did dig the wells
and built the beautiful cities. Someone did plant the vineyard and the
olive trees. In short, there was a people that walked with God and saw
great victories and knew their God in the land of the living. The trouble
comes in the times of blessing. It is in these times that we can forget
our God. We can forget where we came from and stop following HARD after
our God. The trouble is that there is only one acceptable way to seek the
Lord and that is with our whole heart.
Rev 3:13-21 The Day of the Lukewarm Church
"And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,
'These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning
of the creation of God: 15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold
nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are
lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17
Because you say,'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'
and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be
rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your
nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that
you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be
zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone
hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with
him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me
on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His
throne.
The Day of the Lukewarm Church. Each generation that ever lived has had
its own unique strengths and weaknesses that it had to face. Here again we
have a warning from the, “Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the
Beginning of the Creation of God”. It is to a generation that is laid
back. They have so much comfort and a lack of pressure that they have not
known a strong need to seek the Lord with all their heart. They have a
false sense of security, but their spiritual temperate is lukewarm. The
invitation from the Lord is that they can come to Him and that He is now
coming to them. If we will return to the Lord we can burn with passion and
fire for the Lord.
A Day to Remember.
Ex 12:43-49 (Ex 12:1-13) Passover Regulations
And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the ordinance of the
Passover: No foreigner shall eat it. 44 But every man's servant who is
bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then he may eat it. 45 A
sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat it. 46 In one house it shall
be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, nor
shall you break one of its bones.
47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. 48 And when a stranger
dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the LORD, let all his
males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall
be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. 49
One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among
you."
Ex 6:6-8 Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the LORD; I will
bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you
from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and
with great judgments. 7 I will take you as My people, and I will be your
God. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out
from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you into the
land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give
it to you as a heritage: I am the LORD.'"NKJV
