The Year of the Visitation : Growing God
Sermon given by Senior Pastor, Dan Tabolt
The right
stuff for Growing God!
Prov 24:30 I walked by the field of a lazy person, the garden of one
lacking sense. 31 I saw that it was overgrown with thorns. It was covered
with weeds, and its walls were broken down. 32 Then, as I looked and
thought about it, I learned this lesson: 33 A little extra sleep, a little
more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — 34 and poverty will
pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed
robber. PDV
1. What is a lazy person here? No spiritual vision.
2. Interesting thorns and weeds grown without any help.
3. Walls are broken down from lack of maintenance.
4. Sleep, slumber, lack of care.
5. Come like a bandit, and a forced robber.
Prov 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the
issues of life. NKJV
I. The Garden of the Lord
Gen 2:8 Life in God's Garden
The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man
whom He had formed. NKJV
1. It is possible to look nice on the outside and still have the inside
garden be out of place.
A. I have much treasure and I will build bigger barns
B. Woe to the white washed people.
2. We see that it is our heart that is now the garden of the Lord.
Prov 4:23 Keep your heart [garden] with all diligence, For out of it
spring the issues of life. NKJV
II. Power within the Seed.
1. Seed = The Word of God, The Word of God is Jesus, which we hide in our
hearts [gardens] and it is the source, river, issues of life.
Example of seed = football. Filled with power and life
2. All that we would need is available.
2Chronicles 1-3 Tells us the story of Solomon’s Temple. He being the King
told all his worker that everything they would need would be at their
command.
2 Peter 1:2-5 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God
and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things
that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who
called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us
exceedingly great and precious promises , that through these you may be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in
the world through lust.
Phil 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in
glory by Christ Jesus. NKJV
III. Caring for the Seed.
The Seed is filled with power, but is also frugal.
A. Step back and see the needs of your garden.
1. It must be planted in the right time and right conditions.
2. It will need a watchful eye on it. Care
3. Protection from cold.
4. From animals and bugs.
5. It will need weeding often.
6. Water, Sun, and rest.
7. It will need all your diligence.
Ps 119:11 Your word [Jesus] I have hidden in my heart [garden], That I
might not sin against You. NKJV
