The Year of the Invitation : "Jesus" Who Was and Is, and Is to Come

There are a
couple of times in the scripture that God is called the one who “Was and
Is and Is to Come” In that phase, we see the timelessness of God. He truly
knows the beginning from the end in all things. Predictability can be a
good thing in life. Being able to depend on something or someone is a
treasure. It is good to know the sun will come up. That one season will
follow another. We trust these things because they have proven themselves
time after time, year after year.
Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have
rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your
children.
2 Peter 1:16-19 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we
made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but
were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
19 We have also a more sure word …
Cunningly Devised Fables: In all these Bible stories today we must find a
place to put them in our lives. They can become nothing more than a
spiritual story, never truly bringing us to saving faith, a life changing
faith.
Scriptures and the Power of God
Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing
the Scriptures nor the power of God
I. “Merry Christmas” The Birth of the Christ
A. Birthplace: Bethlehem, House of Bread.
Mic 5:2 The Coming Messiah but you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are
little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From
everlasting." NKJV
B. Supernatural Birth:
Isa 7:13-14 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold,
the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name
Immanuel.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given ; And the
government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7
Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the
throne of David and over His kingdom, NKJV
C. The Genealogy of Jesus:
Matt 1:17 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the
Son of Abraham: 2 Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot
Judah and his brothers. 3 Judah begot…
16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who
is called Christ. NKJV
But now I didn’t really want to talk about that.
II. Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull
Matt 27:33-3633 And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is
to say, Place of a Skull , 34 they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to
drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink.35 Then they
crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "They divided My garments among
them, And for My clothing they cast lots." NKJV
Isaiah 53:1 The Sin-Bearing Messiah
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been
revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a
root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with
grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we
did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our
sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His
stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have
turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the
iniquity of us all.
as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken
You make His soul an offering for sin,
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall
bear their iniquities.
But now I didn’t really want to talk about that.
Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing
the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they
neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in
heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read
what was spoken to you by God, saying, 32'I am the God of Abraham, the God
of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of
the living." 33 And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished
at His teaching.
A. Is it Cunningly Devised Fables to you or kind of like the DaVinci Code
or the Gospel of Judas? Have you discovered the Power of God for all who
would BELIEVE and RECEIVE?
III. The Great White Throne
A. Rev 20:11-15 The Great White Throne Judgment
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the
earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were
opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the
dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were
written in the books.
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered
up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to
his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This
is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life
was cast into the lake of fire. NKJV
1. Now this is what I would like to talk about today. If we know “the
Scriptures nor the power of God”, we must understand and believe that just
like everything that has been written and has come true with the first
coming of the Christ, everything that has been written about judgment and
the end of this life will also come to true. All those things written
about Jesus, about Judgment and about you shall happen.
B. So what do we see here?
1. A Throne, He who sits on it, His Face.
2. No Place to hide, small or great, death is everywhere.
3. Books are opened.
4. Book of Life, Name of all the Saved.

5. The Second Death.
Matt 7:23 "Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the
kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22
Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your
name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from
Me, you who practice lawlessness !' NKJV
Matt 25:35-37 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you
gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you
clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to
Me.'
37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when…NKJV
Revelation 21 All Things Made New
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first
earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the
holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as
a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven
saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with
them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be
their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there
shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more
pain, for the former things have passed away."
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And
He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
6 And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life
freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things,
and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly,
unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns
with fire and brimstone, which
is the second death." NKJV
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no
more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the
former things have passed away."
